The Student Advice Service is the only independent advice and information service exclusively available to Oxford University Students. The service is currently staffed by three Advisors.

Cate is the Manager of the Student Advice Service. Cate studied at Keele, Cambridge, London and Oxford where she gained a D.Phil. Cate has worked as an assistant junior dean and was MCR President at both Oxford and Cambridge. For over twenty years, Cate has worked in a variety of advice services in the public, private, independent and university sectors and is a qualified and registered social worker and psychologist. Cate's areas of expertise include student parents, academic issues, eating disorders, harassment, mental health issues, addiction and sexual abuse. She is happy, however, to help you find a solution whatever the issue.

Nicky Reed is a full-time Advisor who joined the Service in January 2016. She completed her undergraduate degree at Oxford Brookes University. She has worked in a variety of Advisor roles in the education sector including the FE and international sectors. Her specialisms include issues around disability and mental health, housing, harassment, partnership violence and general welfare problems that impact on students academic life, but she is also happy to speak with students about any concerns they may have during their time at the University.

Hanne Clark is a part time adviser who has just joined the team. She completed her undergraduate degree at Oxford Brookes with the second year spent living and studying at the University of Angers in Northern France. Hanne worked with Oxford Citizens Advice as a permanent adviser specialising in Money and Welfare Rights advice. While studying in France, Hanne worked as a member of the welfare advice team for overseas students. She has worked in the advice field for many years including in outreach posts for students in Higher Education. Her areas of expertise include money, housing and welfare rights advice, immigration and mental health issues.
