Proposing a motion at OUSU Council is easy: just write it, find someone to second it, and turn up to OUSU Council to speak in favour of it.

A motion needs to:

  • State clearly the action required or policy to be adopted
  • Who is to perform it
  • The name and College of the proponent and seconder

The College common room presidents and other student representatives who are the voting members of OUSU Council decide whether to approve the motion or not, but any student can be the proponent or seconder of the motion, and any student can speak for or against any motion.
