Proposing a motion at OUSU Council is easy: just write it, find someone to second it, and turn up to OUSU Council to speak in favour of it.
A motion needs to:
State clearly the action required or policy to be adopted
Who is to perform it
The name and College of the proponent and seconder
The College common room presidents and other student representatives who are the voting members of OUSU Council decide whether to approve the motion or not, but any student can be the proponent or seconder of the motion, and any student can speak for or against any motion.
You will need to submit your motion to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you'd like more information about proposing a motion, just contact the Chair of OUSU Council. They can also help you with drafting your motion and working out any details of its application. To read a sample motion click here.
